Third General Assembly of VERIFY: Virtual meeting over two days to present all achievements made in the VERIFY project and discuss the design of the greenhouse gaz monitoring and verification support system to be completed in the final year.  

VERIFY’S GA 2021 has gathered almost 80 participants at each session. The meeting was organized over two days with 2 sessions per day. The first day focused on the recent progresses made in each work packages of VERIFY and the second day on scientific challenges linked to the construction of a monitoring and verification system for GHG fluxes and the international context.

During the third session, we had a time slot on “Forest biomass & harvest”, linked to the Ceccherini et al. (2020) paper on Abrupt increase in harvested forest area in Europe. A debate was organized around the robustness of the key messages presented in that paper with critics provided by Gert-Jan Naaburr and rebuttal by Alessandro Cescatti and Giacomo Grassi.
