The 4th ICOS Science conference was held virtually from Tuesday 15th to Thursday 17th of September, 2020. The theme of this international conference was « Knowledge for shaping the future – understanding the Earth’s biogeochemical processes ».

During the conference, several members of the VERIFY consortium have presented results highlighting different aspects of the project :
- Aki Tsuruta on Spatial and temporal distribution of European CH4 emissions from process-based models and CTE-CH4 atmospheric inverse model
- Philippe Ciais on COVID-19 causes record decline in global CO2 emissions
- Samuel Hammer on Monitoring ffCO2 emission hotspots using atmospheric 14CO2 measurements
- Rona Thompson on Changes in Net Ecosystem Exchange over Europe during the 2018 drought based on atmospheric inversions
- Dominik Brunner on Atmospheric transport model analysis of methane emissiosn from oil- and gas-production in Romania observed during the ROMEO campaign in 2019
- Roxana Petrescu on VERIFY Synthesis of European greenhouse gas emissions and their uncertainties
